Next Tuesday, April 30, 2013, Tim Clinton will present an instructional program to members of the District of Columbia Bar entitled “Practical Tips for Oral Advocacy.” The luncheon event will take place at the D.C. Bar Conference Center, located at 1101 K St. NW, and has been co-sponsored by nine different sections of the DC Bar, including the Litigation Section, the Antitrust and Consumer Law Section, and the Corporation, Finance and Securities Law Section.
The DC Bar’s website describes the event as follows: “Oral advocacy – the art of persuasively presenting ideas verbally – is an integral part of every lawyer’s practice, even those who never set foot in a courtroom. Lawyers make verbal presentations in conference calls, team meetings, business development lunches, negotiations, mediations, and countless other daily interactions with clients, subordinates, supervisors, opponents, and decision makers. This entertaining event is designed to provide practical and time-tested tips to help any lawyer – from tongue-tied wallflowers to silver-tongued orators – to become effective in any forum.”
Mr. Clinton will co-present with Ben Vernia of The Vernia Law Firm. Mr. Clinton and Mr. Vernia were colleagues at Covington & Burling before forming their own firms, and occasionally co-counsel on various matters.
To register in advance, please visit the DC Bar Website. The cost is $15 for members of one of the co-sponsoring sections, $20 for non-section DC Bar members, $10 for government and non-profit employees, and free for students.
